Fabricate: precision in production

We work with timber solutions including Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT), Glue-Laminated Timber (Glulam), and Hybrid Systems such as Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL), I-Joist, and Baubuche.

Cross-laminated timber (CLT)

CLT is a versatile engineered wood product that is made by stacking multiple layers of solid-sawn or structural composite timber. These layers are bonded together under pressure, resulting in strong and durable panels that can be used in various construction applications such as residential, commercial, and industrial structures.

  • • Carbon Sequestration: CLT has a unique ability to store carbon dioxide captured during the growth phase of the trees used to produce it. This carbon remains sequestered within the wood even after processing and construction, helping to mitigate climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

    • Healthy Indoor Environment: CLT's natural properties, including low emissions and moisture regulation, contribute to a healthier indoor environment. Unlike some traditional building materials, CLT doesn't release harmful chemicals, creating cleaner air quality within buildings.

    • Sound Dampening: Due to its solid construction, CLT can effectively dampen sound transmission, creating quieter indoor environments. This can be particularly beneficial in multi-story buildings or areas with high noise levels, such as urban environments or near transportation hubs.

    • Thermal Inertia: CLT's mass provides thermal inertia, which can help stabilise indoor temperatures by absorbing and releasing heat slowly. This property can contribute to energy efficiency by reducing the need for heating and cooling systems in buildings.

    • Design Flexibility: CLT's strength and versatility allow for innovative architectural designs that may not be feasible with other building materials. Its ability to span long distances and support heavy loads opens up possibilities for unique and creative structures.

Glued Laminated Timber (Glulam)

Glulam is a structural engineered wood product composed of layers of solid-sawn timber or structural composite lumber, bonded together with high-strength adhesive. This process results in the creation of large, strong beams and columns that are widely used in construction for their exceptional load-bearing capabilities and design versatility.

  • • The production process of glulam typically requires less energy compared to many other structural materials, especially when sourced from sustainably managed forests and manufactured using efficient, modern techniques. This contributes to lower overall environmental impact and carbon footprint.

    • Glulam allows for the creation of complex, curved, and aesthetically pleasing structural shapes that may be difficult or impossible to achieve with other building materials. This design flexibility opens up possibilities for unique and innovative architectural expressions.

    • Glulam offers exceptional load-bearing capabilities and design versatility.

    • Glulam's natural appearance and warmth contribute to biophilic design principles, enhancing occupants' connection to nature and leading to improved well-being and productivity.

    • Exposed glulam beams and columns can become focal points of interior spaces, adding character and visual interest to the building.

Hybrid Systems

We work with various hybrid options including LVL glulam and I-Box systems to provide strong, versatile and sustainable options for all scales of construction.

Explore the options here:

  • LVL Glulam is a type of engineered wood product that combines the strength and stability of laminated veneer lumber (LVL) with the structural integrity of glued laminated timber (glulam). This hybrid product offers exceptional strength and versatility, and is a very cost effective option compared to steel. Its design flexibility and lightweight characteristics allow for easy installation on well-prepared sites.

  • The I-Joist Insulated Box System is a cutting-edge building solution that combines engineered wood I-joists with integrated insulation to create a highly efficient and seamless structural framework. This innovative system creates a continuous thermal envelope throughout the building, which reduces heat loss and improves energy performance. By integrating insulation directly into the joist system, it ensures superior thermal resistance and reduces thermal bridging, which results in enhanced energy efficiency and comfortable indoor living.

Baubuche

Baubuche is composed of high-quality beech wood strips that are bonded together under pressure, creating a structurally strong material (GL75) that is perfect for beams and columns. Baubuche's dimensional stability, customizable properties, and environmentally friendly sourcing make it an excellent choice for modern architectural designs. Baubuche is an innovative engineered wood product particularly known for offering exceptional strength, versatility, and sustainability in construction.

Our commitment to quality, durability, and eco-friendliness is evident in these options, which represent the highest standards of modern construction materials. Builders and architects can choose from a range of versatile options to bring their visions to life while prioritising environmental responsibility.
