Widely regarded in local and international design media, Spruce House & Studio is a three storey new build home constructed wholly from cross-laminated timber (CLT) in Walthamstow, celebrating the material in its entirety.
Winner of the London RIBA Awards 2023 as well as recipient for RIBA National Award, the home and design studio were built over five days with a unique construction method to create tactile timber interiors. Inside, slatted privacy screens that provide green glimpses of the garden beyond. Raw building materials like timber and stainless steel are intentionally placed to capture light and cast shadows, generating dynamic textures and patterns throughout the home.
